Note :
  • Whether the printer does not ship with Windows 7 drivers installed on Software and Driver CD-ROM, latest drivers can be downloaded by clicking [Drivers and Downloads] link under the Resources section on the product this window.
  • If the driver is downloaded from Driver and Downloads website, that will be form self-extracting the executable file (.exe) or a compressed file (.zip).
  • To install the driver in Windows 7, you have to break into the computer with corresponding administrator permissions.

To install the print driver using the (.exe) or (.zip) driver file with an Ethernet (TCP/IP) connection to the printer :
  1. Depending on the type of file that was downloaded (.exe or .zip).
  2. Open the Control Panel. (Click on the [Start] button, and then click on [Control Panel].)
  3. Depending on the "View By" option, perform one of the following options:
  4. Click on [Add a Printer] at the top of the window.
  5. Click on [Add a Local Printer].
  6. Enter the IP address or hostname of the printer in the Hostname or IP address field.
  7. Make sure the "Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use" option is not checked, and then click on [Next].
  8. Click on the [Have Disk] button. The Install From Disk window will be displayed.
  9. Click on the [Browse] button, and then browse to the location of the folder where the driver files are located. One file will be listed in this folder. Select the file, and then click on the [Open] button to return to the Install From Disk window.
  10. Click on the [OK] button. The Install the Printer Driver window will be displayed.
  11. Click on the appropriate printer model, and then click on [Next].
  12. Confirm the name of the printer, and then click on [Next].
  13. Click on [Finish].

To install the print driver using the (.exe) or (.zip) driver file with a USB connection to the printer:

Power on the computer and the printer with the USB cable connected first to see if Windows 7 will already have a driver loaded for the printer.
  1. Depending on the type of file that was downloaded (.exe or .zip).
  2. Open the Control Panel. (Click on the [Start] button, and then click on [Control Panel].)
  3. Depending on the "View By" option, perform one of the following options:
  4. Click on [Add a Printer] at the top of the window.
  5. Click on [Add a Local Printer].
  6. Click on [Next].
  7. Click on the [Have Disk] button. The Install From Disk window will be displayed.
  8. Click on the [Browse] button, and then browse to the location of the folder where the driver files are located. One file will be listed in this folder. Select the file, and then click on the [Open] button to return to the Install From Disk window.
  9. Click on the [OK] button. The Install the Printer Driver window will be displayed.
  10. Click on the appropriate printer model, and then click on [Next].
  11. Confirm the name of the printer, and then click on [Next].
  12. Click on [Finish].
  13. Right-click on the print queue that is created under Printer’s & Faxes, and then select [Remove Device].
  14. Unplug the USB cable from the printer for 10 seconds and then plug the cable back in to allow the Add Hardware Wizard to re-add the printer.
  15. Right-click on the printer’s print queue icon, and then select [Printer Properties]. The print driver Properties window will be displayed.
  16. Click on the [Advanced] tab in the driver properties.
  17. Click on [New Driver]. The Add Printer Wizard screen will be displayed.
  18. Click on [Next].
  19. Click on the [Have Disk] button. The Install From Disk window will be displayed.
  20. Click on the [Browse] button, and then browse to the location of the folder where the driver files are located. One file will be listed in this folder. Select the file, and then click on the [Open] button to return to the Install From Disk window.
  21. Click on the [OK] button. The Install the Printer Driver window will be displayed.
  22. Click on the appropriate printer model, and then click on [Next].
  23. Click on [Finish].
  24. Click on [Apply].
  25. Click on the [OK] button to close the print driver Properties window.
